The system will make it possible to apply rebates to people who use the bins correctly and separate waste properly.

The fee may be adjusted according to the actual use of the system, rewarding responsible behavior and encouraging the reduction of residual waste.

This follows the European principle of “the more you recycle, the less you pay”.

Yes. Many municipalities are implementing smart bin systems or door-to-door collection to achieve European targets.

The experience of other towns shows that these systems significantly increase selective collection, often exceeding 55% in the first year.

As with any change, there is an adaptation period, but it is generally quick and satisfactory.

The system records the use of the bins with the aim of improving the service and applying a fairer fee.

The information will make it possible to:

  • Detect incidents.
  • Improve service planning.
  • Apply rebates according to actual use.

The data will be processed in accordance with data protection regulations and will only be used for service management.

There will be an information and support service to help people who have difficulties, especially older people or those with specific needs.

The following will be made available:

  • Information points.
  • Environmental educators.
  • A citizen helpline supported by an advanced AI system and supervised by the campaign team.
  • An email address for assistance and incident reporting.

By email at incidencies@benissaimpuls.es or by phone or WhatsApp at 670 028 431.

The installed system is high quality and reliable, but like any electronic device it can fail. If it does not work, look at the message displayed on the screen and report the incident by email at incidencies@benissaimpuls.es or by phone at 670 028 431.

Remember that you have more container islands available.

If they are deposited in the residual waste bin (grey), the amount of residual waste increases. This implies an increase in management and treatment costs, since this waste cannot be properly recovered.

On the other hand, if organic matter is put into the packaging or paper and cardboard bins, the selective collection of these fractions becomes contaminated and their recycling is hindered or made impossible.

Organic matter collected correctly is treated in specialized facilities, where it is transformed into compost, a natural fertilizer used in agriculture and gardening, and into energy (biogas). Correctly separating organic waste makes it possible to use it, reduce environmental impact and lower the economic costs of management.

It should be remembered that it is everyone's obligation to separate waste correctly and deposit it in the enabled bins or points.

This is an action of collective responsibility in which both residents and businesses participate, thus contributing to the protection of the environment. This obligation is set out in Article 20 of Waste Law 7/2022.

Leaving rubbish outside the bin is a punishable behavior and may lead to the opening of sanction proceedings, in accordance with the Municipal Ordinance on Street Cleaning and Waste Management of the Municipality of Benissa, which states:

"It is forbidden to deposit rubbish or urban waste outside the places established for that purpose by the Town Council, both within the urban center and outside it, as well as any other actions or activities that may cause dirt in public spaces"

Each card will be linked to a home or business, not to the owner's personal data.

Personal data protection regulations will be complied with at all times.

The data will only be used for the management of the waste service and the data controller is Benissa Town Council.

Initially, there will be no restrictions, so any bin in the municipality can be used.

However, the cards have three assigned bin areas (the best located ones) and, if incidents and bin saturation problems arise, the restriction may be activated.

Before the system is activated, you will receive a letter at home with instructions for collecting the cards and activating the mobile application.

The procedure will be simple and there will be information staff to answer questions.

You can check at the Information Points, send an email to incidencies@benissaimpuls.es or call 670 028 431 (phone or WhatsApp) to find out the place and time slot when you can collect it. In this way we will avoid overcrowding and unwanted queues.

At the end of the delivery phase, there will be a make-up week so you can go to the information point to collect the materials, although the assigned week is preferable to avoid waits and queues.

If you cannot attend during this period, there will be an operational information point at the Benissa Impuls offices during an established timetable for collecting the materials.

It is advisable to give notice, before going to collect the material, by email to incidencies@benissaimpuls.es or by phone at 670 028 431 (phone or WhatsApp).

If you have not received any letter about this before 1 May, contact us by email at incidencies@benissaimpuls.es or by phone at 670 028 431 (phone or WhatsApp). The incident will be noted and an attempt will be made to resolve it as soon as possible.

It may happen that, due to outdated registry data or different circumstances, the home does not appear in the databases and therefore the cards have not been notified or prepared.

Another person may go on your behalf, and they must bring an authorization from the holder, together with the waste fee receipt and identification with an ID card.

  1. Download and install the system's official application (links to Google Play and App Store).
  2. Register using the details provided when collecting the card.
  3. Validate the access associated with your home.
  4. Open the bin using the button when you are in front of it.

If you have difficulties with your mobile phone, use the card and ask for help at the help point.

You will have to go to the Information Point to cancel the lost card and request a new one.

Replacement will cost €3 per unit, which will be charged on the second waste fee receipt. If the card does not work and it is presented in good condition, it will be replaced free of charge.
