Recycling guide
Sorting waste correctly at home is the key to making recycling work.
Sorting at source avoids many problems later on: management costs are reduced, the use of materials is improved and the municipal service is optimized.
With the new bin system, sorting correctly is even more important to reduce the residual fraction and move towards the recycling targets.
Organic waste (brown bin)
- Food scraps.
- Fruit and vegetable peels.
- Coffee grounds and tea bags.
- Kitchen paper with oil or other residue.
- Plant and flower remains.
- Toothpicks and ice lolly sticks.
- Diapers and sanitary pads.
- Cigarette butts and ashes.
- Animal droppings and litter.
- Dust and sweepings.
- Oils and other kitchen liquids.
- Packaging (glass, metal, plastic, etc.).
REMEMBER TO USE COMPOSTABLE BAGS
Packaging (yellow bin)
- Plastic bottles and containers.
- Cans.
- Cartons.
- Plastic trays and bags.
- Aluminium foil and film.
- Plastic and metal lids.
- Toys.
- Appliances.
- Kitchen utensils.
- Organic remains.
- Containers with a lot of food left inside.
Tip: Empty the contents and, if necessary, rinse the containers lightly.
Paper and cardboard (blue bin)
- Flattened cardboard boxes.
- Newspapers, books and magazines.
- Sheets of paper.
- Paper bags.
- Dirty kitchen paper.
- Very dirty napkins.
- Plastic-coated paper.
- Cartons.
Tip: Flatten the boxes before depositing them to avoid bin overflow.
Glass (green bin)
- Glass bottles.
- Glass jars.
- Fluorescent tubes and light bulbs.
- Plates, drinking glasses and light bulbs.
- Mirrors and windows.
Tip: If the jars have lids, place them in the yellow packaging bin.
Residual waste (grey bin)
Only waste that has no specific bin should go into the residual waste bin:
- Hygiene waste.
- Cold ashes and cigarette butts.
- Sweepings dust.
- Pens and similar items.
- Diapers and sanitary pads.
- Small non-recyclable materials.
Important:
Correctly sorting the residual fraction is essential to reduce costs and meet recycling targets.
